The Superintendent is responsible for planning and overseeing daily on-site operations for environmental remediation, mining, and earthwork construction projects. This role includes direct supervision of field crews, subcontractors, and construction equipment, ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. The Superintendent will lead the implementation of RECON’s behavioral safety program, uphold quality control standards, and drive production goals to support overall project success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site supervision of construction crews, ensuring all work is executed in alignment with the project schedule, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with site safety personnel to promote and uphold RECON’s strong safety culture; ensure full compliance with safety plans, company policies, and procedures, and support project management with conducting daily safety briefings.
  • Assess the skill levels of craft personnel to ensure the safe and effective operation of heavy equipment, addressing any potential safety concerns to mitigate organizational risk.
  • Monitor and evaluate on-site crew performance, including providing training, coaching, and, when necessary, administering disciplinary actions in accordance with RECON standards.
  • Accurately generate daily reports documenting construction progress, production metrics, and site activities with a high level of detail and precision.
  • Prepare, review, and track daily timesheets to ensure alignment between labor hours and the completion of scheduled work activities.
  • Maintain and monitor adequate inventory levels of materials and heavy equipment on-site to support continuous production, meet project deadlines, and stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure all on-site work is executed in full compliance with established quality standards and remains within the contractual scope of work agreed upon with clients.
  • Conduct incident and accident investigations with the site safety team, report any issues as needed to mitigate risk while ensuring the safety of all employees working onsite Lead and participate in incident and accident investigations in coordination with the site safety team; report findings promptly and implement corrective actions to mitigate risk and ensure the safety of all personnel on-site.
  • Lead efforts to integrate subcontractors into RECON's high level of safety standards on the project site, educate and mentor team members as needed Facilitate the integration of subcontractors into RECON’s safety culture by reinforcing project-specific safety standards, providing education, and mentoring team members to uphold compliance and performance.
  • Manage production goals for project estimates, share input and feedback regarding the overall management of project safety, productivity, the quality of work, and financial status of the project with the Project Manager Manage production goals in alignment with project estimates, and collaborate with the Project Manager to provide feedback and insight on key aspects of the project, including safety performance, productivity, work quality, and overall financial status.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of construction experience, including at least 5 years in a field supervisory role with direct oversight of crews, heavy equipment, and on-site construction activities.
  • Proven field management experience in one or more of the following areas: earthwork construction, mine reclamation, soil stabilization, environmental remediation, landfill closures, and/or mass excavation.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols and practices related to the operation of heavy earth-moving equipment is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications—including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams—with the ability to generate accurate and timely daily reports
  • Must be capable of working in active construction environments with regular exposure to dust, noise, uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to assigned job sites, with a commitment to working on-site and returning home on a rotational monthly basis.

Additional Information

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year

 

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including relevant internal and external experience, knowledge, skills, scope of job, geographical location or other factors permitted by law
